Fraud and misrepresentation can strike you at any time. Once it happens, what recourse do you have? Using the unfair and deceptive acts and practices (UDAP) laws, you may be able to terminate an agreement, stop payment, or get your money back. If you’re in the unfortunate circumstances of being sued by a creditor or collection agency, you could cite the UDAP violations as your defense.

Another option would be to consult with an attorney about suing the seller. But before you initiate legal proceedings, send the seller a demand letter explaining the problem and ask for your money back. Make copies of all original letters and be sure not to forward originals of any supporting documentation like the contract, receipts, or canceled checks. If you don’t receive a response from the seller or get what you want, your letter along with the supporting paperwork should be used as evidence in your lawsuit. If the amount is low, you may be able to do it yourself in small claims court. For larger amounts, you’ll probably wants the assistance of an attorney. Check with your state’s laws for specific requirements.

Another strategy you can try when your initial demand letter doesn’t work is to file a complaint with the proper government agency. If you’re unsure which agency to contact, try consulting with the local state prosecutor’s office for recommendations. When a company receives a complaint from a government agency, it tends to respond quicker. The business will most likely designate a representative with the authority to correct the problem or issue you a reimbursement.

Another effective technique you can implement when a seller refuses to cooperate with you is to file a complaint with the proper government agency. For recommendations of the appropriate agency, try contacting your local or state prosecutor’s office. If you filed a complaint with a government agency, the business will act swiftly and cooperate with the agency to resolve all issues quickly. The business will nominate a special representative to bring a quick resolution to your case.

If you decide not to sue for damages against the business, it’s still important to let the government agency know about the problem. Once an avalanche of complaints come pouring in, the agency will initiate corrective action against the business. In order to expedite the process of having an agency take action against a business, it’s best to submit a standard complaint form generated by the agency. If you only forward a copy of the original letter you submitted to the business, the agency won’t act on the complaint until they see the merchant ignore your request. Once the agency launches an investigation, the business must formally respond.

Make sure you include copies of originals of all receipts, agreements, warranties, service contracts, ads, and other supporting evidence. If you have a log of your phone calls showing your efforts to work out the problem, be sure to include these. Be sure to make copies of all paperwork submitted to the agency. You should also send the business a copy of your agency complaint.

Do you worry about being a victim of misrepresentation or credit fraud? The good news is you won’t be liable for debts incurred as a result of fraudulent activity. To combat this growing problem, state and Federal agencies have enacted laws to punish businesses that cheat or deceive consumers. These laws, called unfair and deceptive acts and practices (UDAP), are legislated for the protection of you as a consumer. If a business is privately operated, most likely it will be subjected to these laws.

In order to fully protect the consumer, additional laws have been passed directed particularly to special types of businesses and services such as health clubs and warranty services. If you run into a problem where you can’t locate a specific law that addresses your particular issue, try researching the UDAP laws for help. The UDAP regulations outlaw the deceptive practice of unfair terms in financial contracts, oral and written claims meant to intentionally defraud the general public and incorrect statements about the final condition of a product when a flaw still exists.

Sometimes a business can be so polished in the art of deception; you may not discover it until it’s too late. It’s important to be aware of these red flags when undergoing a transaction:

1) You’re up trying to read a document in the presence of an agent and he or she keeps pressuring you to sign everywhere without adequate time to go over the contract at your own pace.

2) A representative who skirts your questions about what your total contract costs are and what happens when you default-but continues to hammer in the point of how low your beginning payments and interest rate will be.

3) The agent dismisses any legally required government disclosures as something unimportant, a waste of time, and something you won’t be interested in hearing about.

4) The representative offers you an unclear interpretation of the paperwork.

5) Contract discussions seem to go round and round and never end. Also, they’ll fight hard to keep you from going home to think about it.

6) You can’t seem to get a straight answer from the business concerning your total costs with their financing terms.

7) You get an employee who claims they’re on your side or state they’re an expert in the field.
You observe a business taking advantage of helpless people such as young children, consumers where English isn’t their native language, foreigners with limited knowledge or education, people who haven’t completed much schooling, individuals suffering from physical or mental disabilities, and senior citizens. Just remember, if an offer seems unbelievable, it probably is.

Your credit score, composed of just a few measly numbers, hold such power over the financial future of your life. A score at the lower end of the scale can cost you hundreds even thousands of dollars in interest costs over time. A lender will most likely reject you for a loan because of a low score.

Your credit score can impact your ability to qualify for new credit and negotiate the best interest deal on a loan. It can also complicate the process of being approved for new credit as well as finding a new job.

So how is this score calculated? The combination of numbers is determined by a mathematical calculation based on your credit history. The appropriate numerical digits are assigned to your profile based on the information gathered from your credit report. By extruding this information, they can estimate the probability of your financial behaviors in the future.

While there are myriads of credit scores floating around, the benchmark score lenders rely on the most is the FICO score (Fair Issac Corporation). FICO score ranges from 300 to as high as 850. Naturally the higher scores command the best interest rate loans. The median score is 725. Over 75% of home loan companies depend on this score to pre-qualify their applicants for a mortgage. If you have a distressed score below 650, expect to pay considerably higher interest rates for a loan.

Lenders place all lot of weight on your credit score when determining if you’re a good candidate for a loan. Applicants with scores in the upper ranges are treated as dependable credit risks and are offered the lowest interest rates. Applicants with scores down in the lower range are looked upon as poor credit risks-if approved for a loan, these applicants are offered higher interest rates on a loan.

Insurance companies also place great weight on your credit score when evaluating you for a policy. Insurers believe there is a direct correlation between the quality of your score and the likelihood of you filing a claim. Independent studies reveal the greater propensity for individuals with a low credit score to file a claim. Therefore, expect your insurance premiums to be higher than someone who has a better score.

If you have a low score, it’s never too late to start rebuilding it. You can start by ordering a copy of your credit report from the three major bureaus (Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion) and verifying all the information is correct. Any incorrect information should be disputed with the bureau.

Next you should start establishing a positive payment history by paying your bills on time. If you don’t have a credit card, you can get a secured card to help you establish credit. Over time, you can increase your FICO score.

If you’re a Christian with debt problems, become debt free with Christian credit counseling or by using these secret Christian debt solutions .

Do you need help getting out of payday loan debt? When you compare the calendar and your bank balance do you feel like there is no end in sight? Thousands of people take advantage of the convenience of payday loans every year without fully understanding how payday loans are structured. In the end, many find themselves struggling the same way you are.

People who do not qualify for traditional loans, or those who need money faster than a traditional loan can be processed are often the ones who take advantage of short term loans. The often outrageous interest rates charges by payday lending companies is meant to discourage borrowers from using their service in a long-term way.

Many consumers, unfortunately, do not understand the basics of payday lending. Some unknowingly agree to loans with the assumption that the interest rates will be manageable and very near what they can find at the local bank or credit union. When in reality, many payday loans have interest rates well above 100%–which can make an impact on the amount owed quickly.

Once the cycle has started, how do you stop it?

First, do not allow yourself to be lured by an extension. When you extend a payday loan, you are charged an extension fee (typically $90 on a $300 loan). This $90 does nothing to pay down the principle of the loan. On your next due date, you will again owe $300 plus another $90 in interest.

Pay off as much of your loan as possible, even if you are unable to pay your loan in full. Any amount you are able to pay toward the principle will save you money in the long run. You may be able to make these arrangements online, if not, you will need to ask a customer service representative.

Avoid taking a second loan to pay off the first at all costs. It will not solve anything. Instead, work to pay down the original loan by making small payments toward the principle when possible. Nine times out of ten, a company will find a way to work with you if you are having trouble making your payments and you are sincere about repaying your debt.

Need help getting out of payday loan debt? Let me show you how I did it.

Is the idea of putting a budget together a lot like your thoughts about having a root canal performed? If so, you aren\’t on your own. If you have never decided to put one together before, or have not felt the need to operate under one, it may could be seen as an exceedingly challenging exercise. But in truth, budgets are certainly not all that challenging to devise and put into use. As you get accustomed to them, and comprehend the considerable value a budget has when you take your future into consideration, you\’ll be extremely satisfied you sat down and put one together.

There are actually three steps you will undergo when putting a financial budget together.

1. Categorizing Your Expenses

2. Estimating What You Spend

3. Calculating And Adjusting

Clearly, should you expect to get a handle on your spending, you won\’t have the capacity to control what you don\’t know. Come up with enough time to go through your checkbooks and other receipts that you\’ve ended up saving in the last many months so that you could get yourself a handle on what you\’ve actually expended on requirements along with what\’s been recently spent on non essentials.

For the following thirty days, maintain an extremely specific record of all your expenses. This kind of activity is simplified a little bit together with Internet banking and much more so if you have an application on your hard drive similar to Quicken. But when you count on either of these two things, ensure you employ a process in place so that your cash expenses will not get ignored . It\’s important that you record everything, not simply the bigger expenses. Papers, coffee or snacks you purchase each day all need to be documented. You\’ll be stunned at exactly how these kind of small expenses mount up.

Once you\’ve totalled these expenses all up immediately after the 30 days, you will discover where your money goes. You\’ll have a few choices to make. Are each one of these relatively minor expenditures (that add up to significant dollars over the course of a year) worthwhile it to you? That paper you purchase every day? What about getting the news on line? The espresso you purchase every morning? How about making it at home? As soon as you go through your list of expenditures you\’ve incurred you may find you might want to reevaluate your budget. If so, that\’s an essential component to accomplishing this since you need to be in a position to live within your budget. Being able to achieve this means self control, but it also means ensuring the budget is practical too.

If you have considered Christian debt counseling services as the answer to your financial woes, you may have done so specifically because of the assumption that a so-called \”Christian\” company will automatically offer lower, or no, fees, be fair, and be legitimate.

This is not the case, though there are several good christian debt companies, there are also several bad ones. The bad ones are often headed by dishonest men who are just looking to make a quick buck. In doing so the abuse the faith so many put in the word christian as well as the hard financial & emotional situation you are in.

There are a range of bad companies. Some of them are just that, bad companies who charge you a fee each month, but don\’t really do anything for you. Others charge you upfront and don\’t do anything for you and you leave them in the same position or worse off. But there are some companies that really prey on people in a bad financial spot. Being deep in debt is also every emotionally challenging and often we throw caution to the wind hoping that someone or anything will get us out of this mess. But be wary because there are companies out there that are down right illegal and will scam you right out of thousands of dollars doing absolutely nothing for you.

Because any body can promise anything, there are a few good way to protect yourself when you are looking for a good debt settlement company. First, I would get references, as many as you can. If you know someone who has successfully negotiated their debt, find out who they used. Second, look the companies up in the Better Business Bureau. Third, once you do hire a company understand that you are still ultimately responsible for your debt and nobody is going to work as hard as you to fix you. Do not pay large sums of money up front, don\’t sign any long term contracts with them, and don\’t give them electronic access to your bank account so you can quit quickly & easily if they are one of those bad companies.

Knowing the right things to look for will help protect you from scams and will ensure that you locate reputable Christian debt counseling services.

Think of a pawnbroker and you may drift into fantasies of dark London times, Dickensian back alleys infested with rats and unseemly characters lurking around every corner. It may seem a very Victorian image, but to what extent do pawnbrokers exploit the poor even now?

Certainly at a time where we are all trying to use every penny we have, going to a pawn shop may help us to get a little more money when needed. The great thing about using a pawn shop compared to a bank is that you never need to wait for your request for a loan to be agreed. Instead, as long as you can provide suitable collateral as security for the money you borrow, they will be willing to lend to you.

Unfortunately, although getting a loan from pawnbrokers is relatively easy , they also charge a much higher loan interest than a bank is likely to, therefore it should only ever be considered short-term when you are almost certain you will have the money sooner rather than later.

The National Pawnbrokers Association (the NPA) is an association that abides by strict rules and guidelines and will not exploit. As a company that is over 100 years old, not only do they safeguard the interests of over 900 members, but they take into consideration the interests of their customers, too.

Members of the NPA must adhere to the code of conduct provided in their operations manual. Similarly to other financial institutes, pawnbroking is a facet of the credit industry. Banks and lenders are also subject to the regulations set out in the Consumer Credit Act of 1974.

In order for someone to run a pawnbroking business, they must obtain a license from the OFT (Office of Fair Trading) in the U.K. If they fail to get this then they are committing a criminal offence and as a result, this could lead them to either being fined or sent to prison.

Pawnbrokers that do not exploit their customers have a responsibility to act in a way that adheres to guidelines and legislation. The arrangement of loans is subject to regulations and all necessary information must be passed onto the customer before a loan can be approved.

The pawnbroker Uncles Money offers loans against almost all valuable items.

You will be amazed at how different a pawn shop looks today in comparison to those of, say, 20 or 30 years ago. In fact, as you walk through the doors you may be quite surprised just how much they look like a regular store. So what things might you find in a pawn shop today?

Take Uncles Money for instance, one of the most popular pawn shops of today. Walk through their doors and you will not find yourself in a dimly lit room made impossibly small by towers of shelves cluttered with other people\’s old tat. Instead you will find a neat and orderly store filled with all manner of items and friendly staff with a drive to assist.

If you are interested in excellent quality computers, laptops, TVs or any other electrical item you can possibly think of, Uncles Money is the place to go. In fact, it is almost guaranteed that they will have at least one item that takes your fancy. Of course, this excludes guns and other dangerous items. The condition and suitability of all items are thoroughly assessed by professionals before they reach the shelves.

Supply and demand is taken into consideration before items are made available for purchase on both a national and regional basis so, for instance, stereo models that are known to be a better brand and quality are more likely to be chosen due to the high numbers of stereos cheaply available.

Pawnshops will happily accept electrical goods as collateral, but at the same time they have to consider that they are quickly updated and replaced with newer and better models. Any item that is out of production tends to be very difficult to sell and therefore they must limit the number of electrical items they accept.

But along with the more conventional kinds of items you see in a pawn shop today, there are some that are little stranger. In quite a number of stores today they have musical instruments available. The ones that are most commonly available to purchase in stores such as these are guitars (electric and acoustic) and drum kits. However, there are occasions when some stores may actually have a flute or even a saxophone available as well.

So as you can see from above there are a wide variety of things you might find in a pawn shop today. Certainly if you are looking for a good quality TV, cooker or even fridge freezer for your home it is worth considering taking a trip to your local one to see what is on offer.

Pawnbrokers Uncles Money is one of the very first of its kind to go live. They provide loans against nearly all valuable items from jewellery to cars.
