Redecorating is a job that many people love to do, but at times it can get a bit expensive. But there are ways in which you can decorate a room and not spend that much money. What it takes is a lot of hard work on your part, and a lot of creativity and imagination. You can change the look and feel of rooms rather quickly with only a few changes. Maybe you want a room that is more art deco, you can accomplish this very easily by using colors that are both dark and bright and alternate them around the room. This way you may be able to keep the old furniture and save money.

When attempting a modern look, remember that less is more. Furnishings for this room should be plain. Use an inexpensive Hollywood bed frame for bed support. Do not use a traditional headboard with this. Instead, let your theme inspire its own headboard. Create your own theme based headboard by using Styrofoam. Cut the Styrofoam into geometrical shapes like squares, triangles, and rectangles. Paint these in colors from your color scheme. Paint a piece of plywood white and mount to the wall. Then attach the shapes to the plywood. Layering the shapes and colors will give your headboard a fantastic designer look.

You can create your own curtains, or throw pillows and all at a very inexpensive price. Use those old linens that you were going to throw away. Sewing up a pillow or curtains that can change the look of a room in which you add them too. Or you can even get some dye and change the color of the material. Making your own slip covers for furniture is very easy too. There are so many things that you can change with a minimal amount of money being spent.

Area rugs or throw pillows added into a room can make the room look totally different. Again you can make the pillows yourself. Rugs you can find that won’t cost a lot of money either. Just make sure what you buy goes with the room design

If you have no material that you want to make pillows out of, but some that is on sale. They have some different textures that are very nice and would make some fantastic throw pillows to add to your sofa. There are many ideas that you can use to make a unique bunch of pillows that will make your room look absolutely fantastic.

You can even redecorate an old area rug. If the current rug you have matches the design of the room you can change the look of the rug quickly by stamping on some designs using paint and a stamper. But if not, buy a cheaper rug that is only one color and make a new rug out of it by placing some designs using the stamp and paint again.

All these projects are very inexpensive, and you should notice how much different the room looks. And the sense of accomplishment you will feel will be great too!
